Nominations will open for the 2023 Beautify Texas Awards (formerly KTB Awards) on Monday, February 27, 2023. These awards recognize efforts made by individuals and organizations to enhance their communities and protect the Texas environment. One winner per category will be selected and recognized at the annual KTB Conference in June 2023.

Important Dates

All applications should detail programming, events, and service from January 1 - December 31, 2022, with the exception of the Leadership Award. The application will open on Monday, February 27, 2023 and close on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 5 p.m. CST. Limit 5 applications per category per nominator. We reserve the right to move any submission to a different category in which it fits better. Previous winners will not be eligible to win in the same category again until three years after their win. For example, 2019 winners will be eligible to win in the same category again in 2022. Late, emailed, mailed, or faxed entries will be automatically disqualified.

Award Categories

The Beautify Texas Awards include many of the same categories as the former Keep Texas Beautiful Awards. They are now organized into two subsets, Individual and Organization Awards. The application period will open and close at the same time for all awards. 

  • STAN WEIK LEADERSHIP AWARD

The most prestigious award Keep Texas Beautiful presents. This once-in-a-lifetime professional distinction is awarded to an individual who has provided outstanding leadership in improving and enhancing the environment of their community, the state of Texas, and beyond.

  • O.P. SCHNABEL VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Recognizes individuals who support the mission of KTB through extraordinary efforts and contribute to the betterment of their community. 

  • EBBY HALLIDAY AND MAURICE ACERS BUSINESS/ INDUSTRY AWARD

Recognizes a business with sound environmental principles supporting the Keep Texas Beautiful mission, including locally owned, state, or national businesses.

  • OUTSTANDING PROGRAM AWARD

Recognizes outstanding contributions by civic organizations and city/state government departments, divisions or agencies supporting the KTB mission through a specific program.

  • OUTSTANDING PROJECT AWARD

Recognizes outstanding contributions by civic organizations and city/state government departments, divisions or agencies supporting the KTB mission through a specific project.

  • PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH AWARD

Recognizes the public awareness and education efforts of civic organizations and city/county/state government departments in print and/or electronic media in supporting environmental issues.

  • RUTHE JACKSON YOUTH INDIVIDUAL AWARD

Recognizes the efforts and leadership of youth (as individuals and their collective efforts as a group or team) to beautify the community and create cleaner, greener campuses, parks and neighborhoods.

  • RUTHE JACKSON YOUTH ORGANIZATION AWARD

Recognizes the efforts and leadership of youth-oriented organizations to beautify the community and create cleaner, greener campuses, parks, and neighborhoods.

  • SADIE RAY GRAFF EDUCATOR AWARD

Recognizes the efforts of educators that provide instruction/programming to Pre-K through college students to encourage youth involvement and promote the KTB mission through environmental education.

  • SADIE RAY GRAFF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AWARD

Recognizes the efforts of educational institutions that provide instruction/programming to Pre-K through college students to encourage youth involvement and promote the KTB mission through environmental education.
